Diabetes UK announced the launch of a groundbreaking research program that will take forward a revolutionary procedure
developed in Canada by British surgeon James Shapiro.
The procedure
involves the transplantation of insulin-producing islet cells into
people with diabetes who are unable to make their own insulin.
